Southcrete™ 45 Concrete Bonding Agent (SC45)

Southcrete™ 45 Concrete Bonding Agent (SC45) is a poly-vinyl acetate emulsion that can be used as a self-leveling primer for bonding over various substrates such as concrete, stucco, brick, and stone. It may also be used as a direct additive in lieu of water in Portland cement and sand mixes to control hydration and prevent moisture loss.

LIMITATIONS

Not recommended for use in swimming pools or wet areas. Do not apply where hydrostatic pressure exists.

PREPARATION

Surfaces must be free of moisture, oil, wax, dust, tar, paint curing agents, or surface hardeners. All materials and areas should remain above 50°F / 10°C (fifty degrees Fahrenheit / ten degrees Celsius) or below 100°F / 38°C (100 degrees Fahrenheit / 38 degrees Celsius) 24-hours prior and 72-hours after placement.

APPLICATION

Apply bonding agent to surface with either brush, roller or appropriate spray equipment leaving a thin, even coat over the surface. Apply mortar over bonding agent when the film becomes tacky or within several hours.

CLEAN UP

Clean hands, tools, and containers with warm, soapy water.

CURING

While the Southcrete 45 Concrete Bonding Agent will be “tacky” to the touch within fifteen (15) to twenty (20) minutes, the minimum cure is reached in two (2) to four (4) hours. Total drying time may vary according to atmospheric conditions.

COVERAGE

  • Up to 400 sq. ft. per US gallon on smooth surfaces.
  • Up to 250 to 300 sq. ft. per US gallon on rough surfaces.

SHELF LIFE

Up to one (1) year from date of manufacture in an unopened, properly stored container.

  • One (1) gallon (3.78 liters)
  • Five (5) gallon (18.9 liters)
